Membership Eligibility

Our membership criteria are designed to bring together dedicated, professional pet sitters and dog walkers who meet the following requirements:

  • You are the primary owner of a pet sitting business.
  • You’ve been actively involved in the pet sitting business for at least one year.
  • Your professional pet sitting services are centered in the Greater Asheville Area, Buncombe County, and bordering counties.
  • You agree to follow our AAPPSA Code of Standards.
  • You’re committed to upholding all AAPPSA bylaws.
  • Provide three references from your pet business clients.
  • You’ve secured personal and property liability insurance for your pet sitting business.
  • You use a professional client contract or agreement for the services you provide.
  • You can provide a clear criminal background check.
  • You respect and adhere to the NC Dept. of Agriculture/Animal Welfare Administrative Code and laws, and you do not offer in-home animal boarding without the required license or permit.

How to Join

  1. Please complete, scan and email the AAPPSA Membership Application by email to AshevilleAreaPetSitters@gmail.com. We’ll be in touch to schedule a friendly phone interview and answer your questions about our Association.
  2. Before you officially become a member, we ask that you attend one of our monthly new member meetups. We require that we meet you in person, and the Meet-Up is a fantastic chance for you to be interviewed and meet fellow AAPPSA members.
  3. Download and complete the AAPPSA Membership Application, and send it in with your membership payment and supporting documents to our Membership Coordinator at AshevilleAreaPetSitters@gmail.com.
  4. Membership Dues: $125 to join.  Annual Renewal is $95.
